A valuable survey of the quantum-mechanical theory of collisions and rate processes, this text by a noted authority in the field offers numerous well-defined examples of the theory’s role in solving molecular problems. Graduate-level students are sure to benefit from these well-organized and clear-cut presentations of the theory and its applications.
This three-part volume begins with a review of the Dirac-von Neumann formulation of quantum mechanics. The second part expresses quantal collision theory in terms of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation to explore collisions of molecules with internal structure, the generalized Ehrenfest theorem, the theory of reactive collisions, and role of symmetry. Applications and further extensions of the theory receive a detailed treatment in the final part, with reviews of the partitioning technique, equivalent potentials and quasi-bound states, and the theory of direct reactions. Additional topics include the optical model, statistical approximation unimolecular breakdown, and theory and applications of the time correlation method. Each part opens with a brief introduction; a number of supplementary appendixes offer additional helpful discussions.
Assuming an undergraduate-level grasp of quantum mechanics, this practical volume will prove a valuable resource for chemistry students and others interested in the basic theory of quantum-mechanical rate processes and the increasingly sophisticated experimental results derived from it.

An ola and new book in the field of quantum dynamics
By Shenglong Wang
I remembered that the book was first written about 30 years ago, by Raphael D. Levine. The author is very famous in the field of Physical Chemistry, especially in quantum dynamics field. The Journal of Physical Chemistry has a special issue in 1998 to celebrate his 60-year-old birthday. I think the book is the first one to introduce the concepts and theoretical description of quantum dynamics theory in a detail level. Today in the literature, many authors like to cite this book. It has effected the development of quantum dynamics field greatly. The book also effected me a lot to study quantum dynamics.

Good book
By Alexander
This book is okay. Why is it just OK? There are some reasons.
First of all it is too complicated for beginners. If you even are good in math the way which the author's chosen to state the main physical ideas is obscure. In the same time I found this book is too easy for experienced readers.

Great book, but not typeset properly!
By Interested Traveler
Great book, but unfortunately the Kindle book is not type set properly. Some of the bra-ket symbols appear as squares throughout the book. Dover please review before release.
