In relating these questions to contemporary migrations of people, capital and cultures, it offers fresh insights into thinking about late twentieth-century social and cultural formations. This book is a good introduction to a difficult topic. The authors don't focus on just the traditional "Costra Nostra" topics that many authors fall prey too. The authors carefully blend National and International Organized Crime (OC)Groups, Theories of OC and methods for controling the spread and growth of the groups.
The book is written in a textbook fashion and the authors provide keywords at the end of each chapter to assit the student in learning the main points of each chapter.
Both the authors appear very knowledgable in this subject and they continue to add current information into their newer additions.

This is book is an addition to the motion design workflow where you can get to know how to use typography in your day-to-day work related to broadcast and motion graphics animation. It certainly has good tips if you want to improve upon the area of typography usage in animation.

Type in Motion 2 is the follow-up to Mark Woolman's original Type in Motion, the first book to present an overview of animated digital typography when it was published over six years ago. In this volume over 80 projects, from the most advanced studios around the world, are presented in a beautiful book bordering on sensory overload. Over 1300 images of animated typographic images from the Internet, film and television almost come jumping off the pages at the reader. With the sections "Identifying," "Informing," "Storytelling," "Traveling" and "Speculating," the author exhibits numerous projects specific to those topics - frame by frame in most cases - and explains what was needed by the client, the concept to be produced, the process of creation, and the end result. For a designer like myself, specializing in static graphic imagery, Type in Motion 2 is a great lesson in considering the option of potential movement in an image being creating, how that motion might be executed, what movements could be applied, and how the final imagery will impact the communication of the client's message. Having seen Matt Woolman's "Moving Type", which is a great resource, I had hoped for similar and updated content in covering this design area. This is a very disappointing book as it seems it is a compendium of advertising for the motion design houses out there with very little to offer aside from screenshots of various projects. You are better off just visiting the websites of the companies covered for free with the added benefit of seeing QuickTimes of the TYPE IN MOTION.

At most crime scenes something is left behind by the perpetrator. It could be a hair strand, a fingerprint, fiber from their clothing, a shoe print, or some form of DNA.

But where no clues are visible, the offender still leaves hints. It might be the interaction with the victim, the setting, the time. Criminal profilers have become expert at building on these clues to construct an imprint of the perpetrator's character and the manner in which he or she went about committing the crime. This is the MO -- the modus operandi. Particularly in the case of serial crime, an MO can be established to aid the investigators in targeting likely suspects and pinpointing the next likely action or location. This in-depth analysis of the science of criminal profiling takes you step-by-step through profiling procedures -- the characters, the theories, the psychology, the crimes -- to demonstrate how today's homicide teams approach the toughest cases. It is essential reading for anyone interested in crime investigation and the criminal mind. Folk-lore is no hot-house plant, to be fertilized with refined chemicals and maintained at constant temperature when the winds of reality blow. On the contrary, folk-lore seeks its nourishment in the fertilizing essences of nature, and springs triumphantly forth no matter how fierce the winds or how rigorous the frost. Just as some beautiful plants seem to grow in opposition to all efforts of the gardeners and the horticulturists, so does folk-lore thrive in the face of determined efforts of the sentimentalists to deny its very existence. Folk-lore is, after all, nothing but the literature of the people. It, more truly than any more polished side of literary effort, reflects the average standard of all the people at the time of its currency. The very fact of its existence is dependent upon the willingness of the people (not of the literary guildmasters) to keep it alive. Literature with a capital "L" has all the stabilizing factors of the printed word and of learned tradition to perpetuate it—folk-lore lives only in the voices of the people themselves— the source from which the material in this book has been drawn, from cover to cover. It is not the purpose of this book to override good taste — indeed, the fact that it is issued not for public sale, but for subscribers only, is a definite and willing concession to the prevalence of the same good taste which keeps
